Glitch Hunter
Play through what would normally be a small, boring platformer game, that happens to be riddled with bugs and glitches. Track them down and fix all of them to win!
Made for a college course. Required documentation for the assignment below.
Postmortem
I think the general concept for the game, the enemy AI, and the bug fixing mechanic all worked out well. The main gripe I have with the game in its current state is the lack of variety in the bugs that can be found, as I was only able to implement 3 types in time for the due date. A major reason for this is the input method for finding a bug, which is to approach the bug and press a button. This means there could at most be one bug associated with each object or area for the bug finding mechanic to work. If I could do something differently, it would be coming up with a different method for find bugs, maybe with the mouse pointer or having to select the specific bug type yourself.
Artistic Statement
I made this game because a meta game about finding bugs within the game you are currently playing is an idea I had a while ago and found interesting. I was inspired by NieR:Automata, which has a side quest themed around the same concept but in execution is just moving to a specific area in the map, which I felt was lacking and something I could improve upon in a game dedicated to the concept.
Credits
I used this asset set from Kenney Assets for the visuals of the game. All other content is my own.
